HOW TO FRESHEN YOUR HOME FOR SPRING
By Janet Myers | March 22, 2018
Spring cleaning doesn’t just mean washing windows and shredding old documents. It can also be a time to refresh your interior design. Whether you’re ready to commit to a full redesign or simply want to brighten your space, here are tips for giving your home a fresh start this spring:
- Clear out clutter: A top-to-bottom clean should be the first step in revamping your home. A good way to organize items is by sorting them into three piles: keep, storage and throw. You’d be surprised how great your house can look simply by getting rid of unnecessary clutter.
- Upgrade your cabinets: A bigger renovation that will give your home an updated look is replacing your kitchen cabinets. Since the kitchen is the center of the home, new cabinets can inspire the rest of your home design – not to mention that they add value when the time comes to sell. If you want to start smaller, try replacing the cabinet handles or installing a new backsplash.
- Introduce brighter colors: It’s time to put away the dark, cooler colors of winter and start introducing yellows, oranges, light blues and pinks. You can do this with accent pieces – like throw pillows, curtains and décor – or even with a new paint color.
- Revamp your bathroom: Don’t forget your bathroom when making seasonal changes. Now is the perfect time to plan a bathroom update for the summer. When you design your upgrade, use bright, neutral colors that you can accent for any season.
