FOUR WAYS TO INCORPORATE AUTUMN INTO YOUR HOME DESIGN
By Janet Myers | September 18, 2017
The beginning of fall means changing leaves, pumpkins and cooler weather. As you switch out your wardrobe, you may also want to consider updating your interior design for the fall season. Design Studio – David Gray has tips to help bring autumn into your home.
- Incorporate warm colors. The colors of the changing leaves – deep reds, oranges, browns and greens – can be a major inspiration in your home. These colors can be added in a variety of ways, from decorating with a new vase to changing out your curtains or even painting an accent wall. Choose a color palette of up to four colors that will guide the design.
- Pull out the knit materials. While it doesn’t get too cold in Florida, you can still make it feel like fall inside your home with thick throw blankets and knit textures. Drape the blanket over your couch or chair for an instant homey feel.
- Soften the lighting. As the bright lights of summer fade into the softer glow of autumn, so should the lighting in your home. Dim the overhead lights and install yellow light bulbs instead of bright white ones. For an extra touch, use fall-scented candles.
- Highlight rustic features. Give your home an autumn feel year-round by incorporating rustic design elements like a brick feature wall, wood countertops or a neutral, brown color palette.
Ultimately, you can spice up your home with as little or as much of fall as you want. If you’re ready to start renovating for your favorite season or just want a change, call Design Studio – David Gray at 904.224.5971.
